Every feature, none of the bloat.

What's actually in Jotura today, why we built it that way, and how it stays out of your way.

01

A familiar editor.

WYSIWYG for everyday writing. Bold, italic, headings, lists, blockquotes — keyboard shortcuts that work everywhere. Source mode for when you want to see the markdown underneath. No floating toolbars cluttering your screen.

02

Search that actually finds things.

Tantivy under the hood — the same library that powers a lot of search-heavy infrastructure. Title-fuzzy first pass for instant quick-open, body search for when you remember a phrase but not where it lives.

03

End-to-end encryption.

Argon2id key derivation, XChaCha20-Poly1305 for content, per-file keys so a future "share one note" feature doesn't require sharing your whole vault. See /security for the full crypto details.

04

Sync, opt-in.

Sign in with email, enable sync per vault. Edit on one device, see it on another. Conflicts produce a separate file with both versions — no silent overwrites.

05

Performance.

8ms full-text search across 10,000 notes. ~30ms to open any note. Sub-second app cold-start on a recent machine. The numbers stay this way because the app runs locally, not over a websocket to someone else's server.

06

Vault structure.

A vault is a folder. Subfolders are subfolders. Drag notes between them. Open multiple notes in tabs. Search inside the sidebar or full-screen.

07

Cross-platform.

macOS (universal), Windows, Linux. Same vault format across all three. Same keys. Move between machines without re-encrypting.

08

Privacy posture.

No analytics. No crash reports. No "anonymous usage data". No content scanning. No model training. The app makes one outbound network connection — to your sync server, encrypted — and only when you turn sync on.
