How to delete your account
- Go to jotura.io/account and sign in with your account email: we email you a 6-digit code, there's no password.
- If you have an active subscription, cancel it first via Manage billing. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, so this step comes first.
- Scroll to Danger zone and choose Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, type DELETE, and confirm.
What happens to your data
- Immediately: your account is deactivated and signed out everywhere. Sign-in stops working. Deletion can't be undone: signing in with the same email later creates a brand-new, empty account.
- Within about 30 days: the data we held for sync (encrypted note content, encrypted manifests, device records) is permanently and irreversibly purged from our servers after a 30-day grace period.
- Never touched: the notes on your devices. They're plain Markdown files on your disk. Deleting your account doesn't delete a single one of them.
- Payment records: if you ever subscribed, records of past payments are retained by Stripe, our payment processor, as financial record-keeping requires.
If you never made an account
Jotura doesn't require an account. An account only exists if you signed in to use cloud sync. If you never did, there's nothing on our servers to delete.
